Our commitment: gambling is entertainment, not income

Gambling is a form of entertainment. It is not a way to earn money, clear a debt or recover a loss. Every game we offer carries a built-in margin for the house, which means that over time most players will spend more than they win back. We would rather you played with that in mind from the start than learned it after a difficult session.

Before you deposit, decide how much money and how much time you are willing to spend, and treat that figure as the price of the entertainment rather than a stake you expect to get back.

  • Use only money you can afford to lose after rent, bills, food and other commitments are covered.
  • Never gamble with borrowed money, credit from other people, or funds set aside for something else.
  • Set a time budget as well as a money budget, and stop when either one runs out.
  • Do not chase losses. Increasing your stakes to win back what has gone is the most common way a session gets out of hand.
  • Avoid playing when you are upset, stressed, bored or under the influence of alcohol.
  • Keep gambling as one of several things you do for enjoyment, not the main one.

Adults only

You must be 18 or over to open an account or place a stake with us. Gambling by anyone under 18 is an offence, and underage accounts are closed with any winnings withheld.

The tools in your account and how to switch them on

Every account with us includes a set of controls you can apply yourself, at any time, without having to explain your reasons to anyone. The amounts and periods available are shown in the safer gambling section of your account.

Deposit, loss and session limits

Deposit limits cap the total you can pay in across the period you select. Loss limits work on your net position, so wins are taken into account before the limit is reached. Session limits control how long a single visit lasts. You can hold limits over more than one period at the same time, and the tightest one always wins.

A request to lower a limit takes effect as soon as you confirm it. A request to raise or remove one is held for the cooling-off period shown in your account, and you can cancel it at any point before it takes effect.

Time-outs and self-exclusion

A time-out is a short break. Your account is locked for the period you pick, you cannot deposit or play, and access returns automatically when the break ends. Self-exclusion is a longer, firmer commitment: we close play for a minimum fixed period, remove you from our marketing, and will not reopen the account on request before that period has run. Any withdrawable balance is returned to you using the methods in the cashier.

Reality checks

A reality check interrupts play at the interval you choose to show how long you have been in a session and where you stand. It is a simple way to break the flow of a long session and decide whether to carry on.

Switching a tool on

  1. Sign in and open the safer gambling or account settings area.
  2. Choose the tool you want to apply.
  3. Enter the amount or the period, from the options shown.
  4. Confirm the change and check the summary that appears.
  5. If you cannot find a setting or want help choosing one, message us on live chat or write to support@casinohippozino.co.uk and we will apply it for you.

Check your own history first

Your account holds a record of deposits, withdrawals and play. Looking over the last few months is often the quickest way to see whether your spending matches what you thought it was.

Signs that gambling may be causing harm

Gambling harm builds gradually, and it is easier to spot in a list than in the moment. Consider whether any of the following apply to you.

  • You spend more money or time than you planned, repeatedly.
  • You gamble to win back losses, or stake more to make a win feel worthwhile.
  • You borrow money, sell belongings or miss bills in order to keep playing.
  • You hide how much you gamble from family, friends or colleagues.
  • You find it hard to stop once you have started, or feel restless when you try to cut back.
  • You gamble to escape stress, low mood, loneliness or sleeplessness.
  • Gambling is affecting your work, studies, sleep or relationships.
  • Other people have expressed concern about your gambling.

If several of these sound familiar, set a deposit limit or take a time-out today, and speak to one of the organisations below. You do not need to be in crisis to ask for support.

Where to get free, confidential help

The following organisations are independent of us, free to use and confidential. They also help partners, family members and friends of someone who gambles.

  • GambleAware funds and signposts free information, advice and treatment for anyone affected by gambling harm in Great Britain, including self-help tools and a directory of local services.
  • GamCare offers free counselling, group support and practical guidance, delivered in person, online or by phone through its network of treatment providers.
  • GamStop is the free national self-exclusion scheme that blocks you from gambling websites and apps licensed in Great Britain for a period you choose; registering with it covers operators across the market, not only your account with us.
  • The National Gambling Helpline is open to anyone who wants to talk things through, including people worried about someone else's gambling, and can refer you on to treatment.

Your GP is another good starting point, particularly where gambling sits alongside debt, low mood or anxiety. Free debt advice services can help you deal with money problems separately, and blocking software and bank gambling blocks add a further barrier between you and a deposit.

Protecting children and other people in your household

We hold a gaming licence and verify the age and identity of everyone who opens an account with us, using the checks described in our terms. Accounts we cannot verify are restricted, and an account found to belong to someone under 18 is closed with stakes returned and winnings withheld.

Age verification at our end only works if the account stays with you. If you share a device or a home with children or young people, please take these steps.

  • Keep your password and payment details private, and never let anyone else play on your account.
  • Sign out fully after each session and avoid saving login or card details in a shared browser.
  • Lock your devices with a PIN, passcode or biometric check.
  • Install parental control or content-filtering software, which can block gambling sites on a device or across your home network, and check that it is switched on for every device a child uses.

If you believe someone under 18 has used your account, or has accessed our site, tell us as soon as possible on live chat or at responsiblegaming@casinohippozino.co.uk so that we can secure the account and look into what happened. You can reach the same team for help with any of the tools on this page.
